Story Board

Our Story Board

Before going out and creating our thriller opening we had to create a storyboard. This would allow us to work more efficiently when going out to film as we knew exactly what we were going to film. The storyboard is made up of very basic pictures with a little bit of writing that tells us:
  • The Location
  • Actors Being Used
  • Camera Angles
  • Props Being Used

Questionnaire

Audience Research

I went out and asked 20 random individuals about things to do whilst planning my own thriller film. These questionnaires have given me quantifiable data which I can refer to when producing my own opening to a film.

The first question that we asked our audience was where is the ideal location for a thriller film? The top answer that we received was a woods\forest. This setting is used within many films such as the Cabin In The Woods.

To make our thriller film more appealing people suggested that we merge a sub-genre with our thriller. The questionnaire showed us that people felt that the best mixture would include psychological and action.

The villans within thriller films play a big part. Getting the right type of villan could determine the success of our opening. The top three types of villans that people suggested within our questionnaire were Stalkers, Murderers and finally a Psychopath.

Art Of The Title 2

Art Of The Title - Fury

Immediately as the opening begins we are able to tell that this film is going to be a dark and brutal film. The black screen begins to build up the tension and keeps the audience as to what is going to happen within this particular film.

The first names shown within the opening is David Ayer, he was responsible for writing and directing this film. having his name shown first gives us an idea as to how important he is to this film.

In this scene we see the terror and horror as to what is happening and what we are going to expect from this film. The dark blurry screen gives us the impression that this film is set in the past most likely at the time of a war.

The second names that appear on the screen a the three individuals who produced this film. Again putting them second before the actors within the films shows how important the producers are to the film.

We are able to tell that this film is going to be a success from the name Brad Pitt. Having an actor of his calibre immediately gives the audience some sort of attraction as they are now guaranteed good acting within this film.

The use of this image within the opening gives the audience some sort of clue as to what they can expect from this film. Again you are able to take clues from the image and tell that this is set within the past in difficult times.

Seeing Brad Pitt's name twice within the credits shows his importance within the film. Having his name individually on the credits indicates that he is the main actor within this film.

Finally we see the title "FURY" having it in bold letters and decorated in flames tell us the name of the film as well as the tragic events that go on within this film.
